Johnson Roberts Associates is thrilled to announce that the Effingham Public Library (replacing the Helen Matthes Library) is now open to the public. Earlier this month they celebrated their grand re-opening with nearly 800 people in attendance.
Johnson Roberts converted an existing bank building into a brand-new library for the City of Effingham, Illinois. By gutting the existing interior, replacing interior finishes and providing new furnishings, we have created an inviting and fully accessible library for the 21st century. Glass partitions create an open and airy feeling within the library, while providing spaces for meetings, collaborative work sessions, and quiet study. Our design decisions resulted in a product that was both budget-friendly for the city and energy efficient for decades to come.
