Phil O’Brien’s artwork chosen for cover of Molecular Cell Magazine

Phil O’Brien prepared the artwork designed to express the complex ideas discussed by scientist M. Dafne Cardamone, PhD and her team, in their scientific paper published in Molecular Cell (Volume 46, Issue 1).

Using original vector graphics and images of contemporary sculptures of Castor and Pollux, by Bozena Krol Legowska, Phil O’Brien put together the design chosen by the editors for the cover. The image represents the dual roles of the protein GPS2 depending on where in the cell it functions. The mythical twins, Castor and Pollux, famous for how they worked together but in different ways, help to reinforce the message contained in the accompanying paper.
