The original Abbot Public Library building was built in 1953, with additions in 1990. No significant renovations have happened in the past 30 years. The Trustees realized that it was time to update building systems and reorganize the 26,400 SF library to provide 21st century services.
Johnson Roberts prepared a Master Plan for reorganizing and modernizing the library creating new small group meeting spaces improved browsing areas, better reading and study areas, a new teen room, Improved circulation area, updated technology, and mew building systems.
The Master Plan was completed in 2019. The project secured funding from the town in 2021 and will be moving into design in the Fall of 2021.
