Johnson Roberts Associates was founded in 1996 by J. Stewart Roberts and working with communities has been our primary focus from the very beginning. We specialize in libraries, public safety facilities, city/town halls, higher education buildings and churches. Well-designed projects like these reinforce the unique character of a community and imbue its citizens with a deepened sense of local pride.
Our three principals (J. Stewart Roberts, Jeffrey Davis and Phil O’Brien) had a long history of working together prior to the formation of JRA. As a result, they are very familiar with each other’s specific skills and talents — allowing them to utilize these strengths to ensure consistently successful results.
The majority of our work is public and is bid under M.G.L c.149. As a result, we have developed a thorough understanding of the Massachusetts Building Code, Architectural Access Board guidelines, and the American’s With Disabilities Act.
Another passion of ours is historic restoration, which we approach with careful planning and the utmost respect for the original designs. We’ve handled preservation grant applications to the Massachusetts Historical Commission and have won awards for excellence in preservation.
We understand that it’s easy to feel overwhelmed when you begin tackling a large project. Whether you need new construction, renovation and expansion of an existing structure, or restoring a local historic icon back to its original glory (with enhanced efficiency and accessibility) — we can help you reach your goals through reliable, proven methods, clear communication and the team of diverse experts we regularly collaborate with.
