Johnson Roberts Associates has created a beautiful new library in Springfield, MA. The East Forest Park Library is an energy-efficient, green building with spaces that combine modern functionality, plenty of natural light and eye-catching design. The children’s room uses fanciful shapes and bright colors to make reading fun. There is even a media creation suite that allows patrons to make their own podcasts, music or videos.

“We were fortunate to work with a great team of architects that focused on the future of library design during planning, site selection, design development and construction. The East Forest Park Branch is designed with maximum flexibility. During the entire process, the community and the staff were engaged through active listening and careful dialogue. This helped us gain an overall understanding of the community and their needs which resulted in functional and outstanding design. Both the East Forest Park Branch and the Sixteen Acres Branch are vibrant destinations for our residents.
On December 19, 2019 hundreds of guests gathered as the East Forest Park Branch officially opened after 14 months of construction. State, local officials and neighborhood residents praised the design of the new Library. The Sixteen Acres Branch renovation project included an addition that doubled the size of the Branch in 1999. It is quite a testimonial that over 20 years later, the design is still relevant and meets the needs of our library users.“
