The E-ZPass Service Center in Boston formerly resided in a non-universally accessible area of a 1960s-era MassDOT building, located in East Boston.
To meet accessibility requirements and accommodate increased customer volume, the E-ZPass Center moved to another part of the same building: an underused garage bay. The renovation provided an at-grade entrance and vestibule. Additionally, the number of transaction counters have doubled and newly added support spaces include a violations hearing room, office, break room and public toilet facilities.
The design featured bold signage to increase visibility from nearby highways and improved the environment for patrons and workers.
