Additions and renovations to the Lithgow Public Library (in Augusta, Maine) modernized services and more than tripled the size of the old library. The expansion respected the original building — which is on the National Register of Historic Places — while establishing a modern library with expanded technology access. With 31,755 SF of space, the library now includes an art gallery, local history room, enlarged children’s department, community meeting room, and a new young adults section. Additionally, the updates made the library fully accessible for its 11,300 patrons.
