The Mashpee Public Library replaced the existing library on a site in Mashpee Commons. This project received LEED Silver certification for its superior energy-efficiency. The building’s green features include a chilled-beam mechanical system, an extensive rooftop 20 KWH Photovoltaic system, low water consumption plantings, and an on-site stormwater management system. This stormwater management system includes a bioswale garden to filter stormwater runoff. Additionally, an interactive web-based weather station in the lobby helps educate the public on sustainable features within the building. The station allows real-time interactive display of the building’s energy savings and production elements.
